Birding this afternoon.

After orchestra today, I ran over to 9 springs to look for Avocets and Le Conte's Sparrows. The weather wasn't really good for either though. Too windy. I found some good birds though. Several Soras were calling and I kicked up several Snipe.
Two Caspian Terns were flying around as I walked in, a C Yellowthroat was hiding in the grass and a Green heron flew by.
I also found Yellow, Yellow-rumped and Palm Warblers there. As I was walking through the back, I saw an Osprey fly over. That's the 4th or 5th Osprey I've seen in 3 days.

Then, I hopped over to US-12 and County K where there is a flooded field. I ran into Bart Martin as he was leaving and he kindly pointed out a few birds he had found.
Present were:
Am Pipits
7 Wilson's Phalaropes!! (new state bird)
Least Sandpipers
both Yellowlegs
Pectoral Sandpipers
4 Dowitchers (I saw only Short-billed)
Lapland Longspurs
Green-winged Teal

On the way home, I stopped at Pearl Rd and County G and picked up Spotted Sandpiper.

Here's the list of shorebirds I've seen since Wed:
Spotted Sandpiper
Solitary Sandpiper
Least sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Baird's Sandpiper
Willets
Short-billed Dowitcher
Gr Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Pectoral Sandpiper
Wilson's Phalarope

So far, I have all the eastern ducks for the year and almost all the eastern shorebirds. I'm still missing Buff-breasted and Upland Sandpiper though.

What great finds!! Very nice. I think you've officially got me beat for your 1-hour list. ;-) It's great you've seen so many birds, though!

I'm disappointed I haven't seen more ducks this year. I guess I'll have to wait until fall when they come back down! :-)

Happy birding!
